اصل aṣl A s. f. 1. Root, origin, original, founda- tion. 2. Lineage. 3. Capital, principal sum, stock in trade.

اصل السوس aṣlu-s-sūs A s. m. Liquorice.

اصلا aṣlā A or aṣlaṉ, adv. In the least, at all, by no means, never, not at all. اصلامطلقا aṣlaṉ mut̤laḳaṉ, Never absolutely, by no means.

اصلاح iṣlāḥ A (inf. iv. of ضلح Heb. and Ch. Prospered, was fit) s. f. Correction, amend- ment, emendation. اصلاح کرنا iṣlāḥ karnā, To correct, to amend.

اصلح aṣlah A adj. compar. (of صالح) Best, most correct, most advisable.

اصلي aṣl-ī A adj. Original, radical, essential, genuine, principal; noble, of a noble family.

بأصله bi-aṣli-hi A By its origin or nature.

حاصل ḥāṣil A (part. act. of حصول) s. m. 1. Pro- duce, product, result, inference. 2. Acquiring. 3. Profit. 4. Corn. 5. A tax, duty, custom, revenue. حاصل بازار ḥāṣil-i-bāzār, s. m. Collec- tions or duties of a market. حاصل ضرب ḥāsil- i-ẓarb, The product of multiplication. حاصل کرنا ḥāsil karnā, 1. To acquire, to get, to obtain, to accomplish. 2. To gain. 3. To produce. 4. To collect. 5. To learn. حاصل کلام ḥāṣil- i-kalām, In short, briefly. حاصل هونا ḥāṣil honā, To be acquired, or obtained, to result, to accrue.

حواصل ḥawāṣil A (from حصل) s. m. 1. plur. of حوصله q. v. 2. An animal of whose skin they make garments. 3. A pelican.

حوصله ḥauṣila A (proper. ḥauṣala, from حصل) s. m. 1. The stomach, maw, crop, craw. 2. (met.) Capacity, ambition, spirit, desire, resolu- tion. حوصله داري ḥauṣila-dār-ī, s. f. Capacity. حوصله مند ḥauṣila-mand, adj. Ambitious, as- piring.

خصلت ḵẖaṣlat A s. f. 1. Habit, custom. 2. Quality, property, mode, talent, virtue, disposi- tion, nature. (Plur. خصال or خصايل).

صل عليٰ ṣall-aﻌlā A Blessed; very fine. See صليٰ الله عليه under صليٰ ṣallạ̄.

صلا ṣilā A s. m. For صله ṣila, q. v. ¶ ṣalā, s. f. Annunciation, invitation, voice, proclamation.
