احوال aḥwal A adj. Squinting, one who sees ob- jects double.

احوال aḥwāl A s. m. (plur. of حال hāl) Con- dition, circumstances, events, occurrences, state, account. احوال بتلانا aḥwāl batlānā, To state oneʼs condition. احوال پرسان aḥwāl-pursān, Asking after health, &c. احوال پرسي aḥwāl-pursī, s. f. Inquiry after health, circumstances, &c. احوال پوچهنا aḥwāl pūchhnā, To inquire after health, &c.

تحور taḥauwur A (inf. v. of حور) s. m. 1. Haste, celerity. 2. Anger.

حوا ḥawwā A (Heb. , from حيّ Heb. To live; "because she was the mother of all living," Gen. iii. 20.) n. prop. Eve, the mother of mankind.

حواري ḥawārī A (from حار Heb. and Ch. ) s. m. 1. Having a white skin. 2. A washerman, a fuller. 3. A friend, a companion. 4. An apostle, a disciple or apostle (of Jesus Christ), a friend, associate, companion (of Muhammad).

حواس ḥawāss A s. m. plur. (of حاسه from حسّ) The senses. حواس باخته ḥawāss-bāḵẖta, adj. Out of oneʼs senses, beside oneʼs self, crazy. حواس خمسه ḥawāss-i-ḵẖamsa, The five senses.

حواشي ḥawāshī A s. plur. (of حاشيه) Skirts, margins, borders.

حواصل ḥawāṣil A (from حصل) s. m. 1. plur. of حوصله q. v. 2. An animal of whose skin they make garments. 3. A pelican.

حوالات ḥawālāt A (from حال Heb. ) s. f. Things given in charge, trusts. A. P. حوالدار ḥawāl-dār (حواله and part. act. of داشتن) s. m. A military officer of inferiour rank.

حواله ḥawāla A s. m. Charge, custody, care, pos- session. حوالي ḥawāle, adv. In the charge, care, &c. حوالي کرنا ḥawāle karnā, To give in charge or possession, to commit, consign, in- trust, deliver.

حوالي ḥawālī A s. f. Environs, outskirts, suburbs.

حوت ḥūt A s. f. 1. Fish. 2. The sign Pisces.
