جهلکا jhalkā S̱. s. m. A blister.

جوگت jūgat युक्ति S̱. s. f. 1. Manner, mode. 2. Skill, cleverness. 3. A pun, or double meaning. See جگت jugat. جوگت باز jūgat-bāz, A punster, or rather one who is fond of uttering double meanings.

جهيکنا jhīknā H v. n. To grieve, to lament, to think of any thing with sorrow, to recommend any thing seriously.

جم jam S (यम) s. m. The regent of worlds below; or death, and judge of departed souls. جم دوت यमदूत jam-dūt, Messenger of Jam or of death. جم ديا jam-diyā (यमदीप) s. m. A candle or illumination sacred to Jam, lighted on the 13th of kārtik, kr̤ishṇ paksh̤, i. e. three days before the dewālī.

جيل jel H s. m. 1. A string or line of captives chained together. 2. A string of buckets passed over the Persian wheel.

جهلابور jhalābor S̱. 1. adj. Splendid, shining, co- vered with jewels and ornaments. 2. s. f. Splen- dour.

جدري judrī A s. f. The small pox.
