جتي jatī यति S̱. s. m. 1. A sage whose pas- sions are completely under subjection. 2. A re- ligious mendicant, especially one of the Jain sect.

جڙانا jaṛānā S̱. (caus. of جڙنا for जटन) v. a. To cause to stud, to cause to set jewels.

جـﮩت jihat A s. f. 1. Cause, reason, account. 2. Side, surface, form, manner, mode.

جلال jalāl A s. m. Dignity, state, majesty, gran- deur, splendour, power, glory.

جهپکي jhapkī H s. f. A snatch, a spring (as, of a tiger), drowsiness, wink, twinkle.

جيو जीव jīw S or jīʼū, or jyū, s. m. 1. Life, soul; animated being, animal. 2. A sweet- heart, a lover. 3. interj. Bravo! جيوپرآنا jīʼū par ānā (dakh. i. q. مشکل پڙنا or جي پرآنا) To happen difficulty, to be in distress or diffi- culty (?). جيوچهي کـﮩنا jīʼū chhī kahnā (dakh.) To abhor, to abominate. جيوسين اٿهنا jīʼū seṅ uṭhnā (dakh. i. q. جان سي گذرنا) To depart from life.

جـﮩ‍انگيري jahān-gīr-ī P 1. adj. Princely. 2. s. f. The name of an ornament, a sort of bracelet.

جيکا jīkā जीविका S̱. s. f. Pension, liveli- hood.

جهابر jhābar H s. f. Marshy land, fen.
