جني jinn-ī A s. m. f. An aerial spirit, one of the race of the genii. (Plur. جنيات jinniyāt).

جٿ jaṭ S̱. s. f. (जटा) Matted hair. جٿا دهاري जटाधारी jaṭā- dhārī, 1. adj. Whose hair is matted. 2. s. f. The cocks-comb flower, amaranth. (Celosia cristata).

جيتيا jītiyā जीवत्पुत्रिका S̱. s. f. Name of a Hindū fast, with sacrifice to and worship of Devī (jītiyā-barat), observed by women, who have lost several children, to preserve the re- mainder.

جهونک jhonk H s. f. 1. A shove or push in swinging. 2. The impulse of a squall or sudden blast of wind. جهونک دينا jhonk denā, 1. To set fire to (particularly, straw, &c.). 2. To throw dust, &c. 3. To throw away (the lives of men uselessly). جهونک کهانا jhonk khānā, To roll.

جسي jas-i यशस्वी S̱. adj. Famous, celebrat- ed, renowned.

جيتا jītā S̱. adj. 1. (for जीवित) Alive, living. جيتي جي jīte jī, adj. Alive, living. 2. (for जेता) Over, more, above. جيتاهونا jītā honā, To be over, to exceed.

جهنجهوڙنا jhinjhoṛnā H v. n. (dakh.) To break with the teeth.
