تـﮩنيت tahniyat A (inf. ii. of هنأ Ch. and Syr. Proved well) s. f. Congratulation.

تاوان tāwān P s. m. 1. Retaliation, recompense, amends. 2. Debt. 3. Fine, mulct. 4. Loan. (تاوان is used in opposition to قصاص ḳiṣāṣ, and means the price paid for blood). تاوان باندهنا يا لينا tāwān-bāndhnā or -lenā, To fine, to mulct. تاوان لگانا tāwān lagānā, To amerce.

تجسس tajassus A (inf. v. of جسّ) s. m. f. Spying, exploring, search, inquiry, investigation, curiosity, inquisitiveness. تجسس کرنا tajassus karnā, To pry into, to search diligently, to ex- plore.

توقير tauḳīr A (inf. ii. of وقر) s. f. Honouring, re- verence, veneration.

تعريف taﻌrīf A (inf. ii. of عرف) s. f. 1. Ex- planation, description. 2. Praise, praising. 3. Assertion. تعريف المحجـﮩول بالمحجـﮩول taﻌrīfu-l-majʼhūl bi-l-majʼhūl, Explaining in terms as little understood as the thing intended to be ex- plained.

تبيان tibyān A or tabyān (from بين) s. Becoming or making manifest, manifestation.

تلبر tilbar H s. Name of a bird.

تهاپنا thāpnā स्थापन S̱. 1. v. a. To patch (as, a wall with cow-dung). 2. To tap. 3. s. f. A religious ceremony performed at a certain sea- son, at Agra and in its vicinity.

تصليب taṣlīb A (inf. ii. of صلب) s. f. Cruci- fixion.

تسلا taslā H s. m. A vessel used by Hindūs to dress their victuals.
