آوند āwand P (comp. of آب and وند) s. m. A vessel, a pan.

اغوا ig̠ẖwā A (inf. iv. of غوي Heb. Erred, acted perversely) s. m. Seduction, temptation, instigation. اغوا کرنا ig̠ẖwā karnā, To seduce, lead astray, tempt.

اسفاناج isfānāj P s. m. Spinage.

اونٿنا auṅṭnā H v. n. Same as اوٿنا auṭnā, q. v.

اوٿ oṭ S̱. (perhaps, from r. वट Surround) s. f. m. Protection, shade, shelter, screen, covering, concealment, partition. اوٿ کرنا oṭ karnā, To conceal, screen, &c. اوٿ هونا oṭ honā, To be concealed, &c.

اساژهي asāṛh-ī आषाढी S̱. s. f. Day of the full moon in asāṛh.

آکاس आकाश ākās S (or akās), s. m. The fifth element, ether; the sky, the atmosphere, the heavens, the firmament, space. (This element is held by the Hindūs to be more subtle than air, to fill and pervade the universe, and to be the peculiar vehicle of life and sound). آکاس باني ākās-bānī (आकाश The sky, and वाणी Sound) s. f. A voice from heaven; revelation, an oracle.

اتهان उत्थान ut-thān S s. Effort, rising up, manly exertion, battle, joy. उत्थान एकादशी utthān ekādasī, or देवठान devaṭhān, The eleventh of the sukl paksh̤ of Kārtik, when Vishnu awakes from sleep. (During the four months that he sleeps it is unlawful to marry).

اوگني au-gunī S̱. (अवगुणी see اوگي augun) adj. Without virtue or science, ignorant.

آکر ākar H s. f. The den of a lion or tiger.
