پرياگ प्रयाग prayāg S s. m. A celebrated place of pilgrimage, the confluence of the Ganges and Jamunā with the supposed subterraneous addi- tion of the Saraswatī; the modern Ilāhābād.

پهاندي phāndī H s. f. A bundle of 50 or 100 sugar canes.

پاٴي pāʼe P (Sans. पाद) s. m. The foot, the stand of a table, chair, &c. پاٴي بند pāʼe-band, 1. adj. Tied by the leg, fettered, captivated; (met.) encumbered with a family. 2. s. m. Fet- ters. پاٴي تخت pāʼe-taḵẖt, s. m. The royal residence or place of general residence of the royal family. پاٴي تراب pāʼe-turāb, s. m. The first stage of a journey. (It is usual to make one short stage at the commencement of a jour- ney, and then to wait a few days to collect every thing necessary). پاٴي حساب لانا pāʼe ḥisāb

پربهتاي prabhutā-ī S̱. s. f. (from प्रभु see پربهو) Government, supremacy, superiority, influence. S. پربهو प्रभु (from प्र and r. भू Be) prabhū or pra- bhu or parbhū, s. m. Lord, master, principal.

پرهيزگار parhez-gār P adj. and subst. Abstinent, one who controls his passions, continent, abste- mious, sober.

پرش पुरुष purush̤ S s. m. A man, generally or individually, a male, mankind.

پاک سنڙسي pāk-saṅṛsī H s. f. A table vice, a bench vice. (This is a modern name; for the instrument was introduced by Europeans). P.A. پاک صاف pāk-ṣāf, adj. Pure, clean, undefiled, unpolluted.

پا pā P 1. (Sans. पाद) s. m. The leg, foot: see پاٴي pāʼe. پابزنجير pā-ba-zanjīr, adj. Fettered, in chains. پاشکسته pā-shikasta, Infirm, re- duced. 2. In compos. part. act. of پاٴيدن To continue; as, کم پا kam-pā, Of short duration; ديرپا der-pā, Permanent.

پيشاني peshānī P s. f. The forehead, the brow.
