پرچهانوان parchhāṅwāṅ S̱. (प्रतिच्छाया) s. f. Image (from shade or reflection), shadow, shade. پرچهاٴين اپني سي بهاگنا parchhāʼīṅ apnī se bhāg- nā, To be frightened at oneʼs own shadow.

پيرزال pīr-zāl P s. f. An old woman.

پيج paij H s. f. A vow, a promise. پيج کرنا paij karnā, v. a. To make a vow.

پرهاس परिहास परि and r. हस Laugh parihās S. s. m. Jest, joke, jeer, jesting.

پرشکار परिष्कार parish̤kār S s. m. Decora- tion, embellishment.

پکهوٿا pakhoṭā S s. m. (dakh.) A wing: see پنکهـ.

پينجني penjnī पदरंजिनी S̱. s. f. Little bells fastened round the feet of pigeons and of chil- dren.

پنج panj P adj. 1. Five. (Sans. पंच). 2. Of seven years old (a horse). نئي پنج naye panj, Of five years old. ملي پنج male panj, Of ten years old. (These phrases are applied to horses only). پنجروزه panj-roza, The space of five days. پنج عيب شرعي panj-aﻌib-i-sharʼīﻌ. adj. Very vicious (possessed of five vices, i. e. 1. Robbery. 2. Adultery. 3. Gaming. 4. Drunk- enness. 5. Falsehood). پنج آيت panj-āyat, The five chapters of the ḳurʼān, which are read during the mourning of a Musalmān. پنج تن پاک panj tan-i-pāk, Five holy persons (i. e. 1. Muhammad. 2. Alī. 3. Fātima. 4. Hasan.

پولا pūlā S̱. (पूल r. पूल Heap together) s. m. A bundle or truss of grass or straw. پولي تلي گذران کرنا pūle tale guẕrān karnā (lit. to live under a bundle of straw) implies a very destitute condi- tion.

پرميه prameh S (प्रमेह) s. m. A gonorrhœa, a (venereal) clap, a gleet.
