پرکنا paraknā H v. n. To be habituated, to ac- quire a habit.

Gaming. 4. Drunk- enness. 5. Falsehood). پنج آيت panj-āyat, The five chapters of the ḳurʼān, which are read during the mourning of a Musalmān. پنج تن پاک panj tan-i-pāk, Five holy persons (i. e. 1. Muhammad. 2. Alī. 3. Fātima. 4. Hasan.

پيٿنا pīṭnā पीडन S̱. v. a. To beat, to thrash, to dash, to strike, to knock, to pound.

پچ پچ pachpach H s. m. The noise made by walking in damp places.

پتوهو patohū S̱. (पुत्रबधू) s. f. Daughter-in-law, sonʼs wife.

پاکداماني pāk-dāmān-ī P s. f. Chastity, sanctity, holiness of life, inno- cence.

پرشکار परिष्कार parish̤kār S s. m. Decora- tion, embellishment.

پرتهـ पृथु pr̤ithu S n. prop. Name of an ancient Rājā, son of Vena, Rājā of Bettoor. He was married to a form of the goddess Laksh̤mī, taught men to cultivate the earth, &c.

پرچهتي parchhatī परिच्छत्री S̱. s. f. A small thatch thrown over mud walls.

پهير pher H (from پهيرنا) s. m. 1. Turning, turn, return, change, meander, maze, curvature, twisting, coil, fold, circumference. 2. Equivo- cation, ambiguity. 3. Difficulty, distance. 4. adv. Again, back. پهيرپڙنا pher paṛnā, To differ. پهيرپهار pher-phār, adj.
