پنچورا panchorā H s. m. An earthen vessel with a narrow neck and a hole in the bottom. When filled with water and the mouth stopped, no water flows from the hole below till the hand or whatever stopped the mouth be removed. (It is used as an experiment to illustrate the doc- trine of the horror vacui by the followers of Aristotle).

پهيک phīk H s. f. The point of a scourge.

پلا palā H s. m. A spoon, ladle for taking out oil, &c.

پرتي प्रत्यय pratyai S s. m. Trust, confidence, belief, faith.

پنگل पिंगल pingal S 1. s. m. Name of a fabu- lous being in the form of a serpent to whom a treatise on prosody is ascribed. 2. Art of mea- suring verses, prosody. 3. adj. Tawny, pale.

پرسون parsoṅ परश्वस् S̱. adv. 1. The day be- fore yesterday. 2. The day after to-morrow.

پاچهي pāchhai S̄. S̱. پاچهين pāchhaiṅ or pāchheṅ, adv. Behind, after, after- wards, in the absence. See پيچهي.

پنيالا paniyālā S̱. (प्राचीनामलक or पानी)

پيچ وتاب pech-o-tāb P s. m. Restlessness, alarm, suspense, perplexity, folds, twisting and twining, contortion, knots. پيچ تاب کهانا pech-tāb khānā, To suffer distress or anxiety, to be vexed, to twist or twine.

پهينٿنا phenṭnā H v. a. To mix, to beat (as, eggs, &c.), to triturate.
