پيچ pech P (from پيچيدن) s. m. f. 1. Twist, revo- lution, a coil, a plait, fold. 2. A screw. 3. Perplexity, ambiguity, maze, difficulty, trouble. 4. Deceit. 5. Complication, involution. پيچ اٿهانا pech uṭhānā, To suffer loss or distress. پيچ اکهڙنا pech ukhaṛnā, v. n. To loosen (the twist of any thing). پيچ باندهنا pech bāndhnā, To grapple in wrestling. پيچ پاچ pech-pāch or پيچ پانچ pech-pānch, s. m. Twist, coil, &c. پيچ پڙنا pech paṛnạ̄, To become difficult or intricate, to occur as an obstacle, to be entangled. پيچ چلنا pech chalna, To prevail by stratagem. پيچ چنا pech chunnā, To bind the twists of a turband with care. پيچ دار pech-dār, adj. To throw obstacles in the way. 2. (in playing with paper kites) To entangle the string of an adversaryʼs kite. پيچ کرنا pech karnā, 1. To deceive, to trick, to complicate. 2. To seize in wrestling, to grapple. پيچ کهانا pech khānā, 1. To coil. 2. پيران pīrān P s. m. Charity-lands (bestowed on the poor in honour of a saint).

پهاو phāʼo H s. m. A small quantity given above the quantity purchased, to boot.

پنـﮩانا pinhānā S̱. (see پـﮩنا pahannā) v. a. To clothe, to put on, to adorn, to dress.

پرپيٿهـ par-paiṭh H s. m. A duplicate of a bill of exchange.

پناه panāh P s. f. Shade, shelter; protection; asylum, refuge. پناه دينا panāh denā, To pro- tect, to harbour. پناه کسي سي مانگنا panāh kisī se māngnā, 1. To seek protection. 2. To avoid.

پنڐا panḍā S̱. (perhaps, for पंडित) s. m. A minister who presides at the temple of an idol. S. P. پنڐارا pinḍārā (पिंड Lump of food, and آر Bringer) s. m. A plunderer, a pillager (among Mahārāttas).

پهانک phānk H s. f. A slice, a piece of fruit.
