پٿيل paṭel S̱. (from پٿا) s. m. 1. Cudgelling. 2. Sovereignty. 3. A chief among the Kunbī tribe. 4. A title of Mahārāttas, the head man of a village. پٿيل ڐالنا paṭel ḍālnā, 1. To interrupt, to throw obstacles in the way of a business. 2. To beat.

پهوهار phūhār H s. f. Small rain.

پاولا pāʼolā S̱. (from پاو) s. m. A quarter of any coin (as, of a rupee, &c.).

پدماوت padmāwat पद्मावती S̱. n. prop. Name of a celebrated princess, whose adventures are related in a romance entitled Padmāwatī.

پهوٿن phūṭan S̱. (see پهوٿنا) s. f. Wrangling, dis- agreement, misunderstanding.

پـﮩلو pahlū P s. m. 1. The side. 2. The wing or flank of an army. پـﮩلوتـﮩ‍ي کرنا pahlū tihī karnā, To retire, retreat, withdraw, refuse, decline, evade. پـﮩلونشين pahlū-nishīn, adj. Sitting by the side; a companion.

پتلي putlī पुत्तली S̱. s. f. 1. The pupil of the eye. 2. An image, a puppet, an idol, a doll. 3. The frog of a horseʼs hoof. (See پوتلي). پتلي کاتاراکرنا putlī kā tārā karnā, To honour or esteem as the apple of the eye. S. پتن पतन (r. पत Fall) patan, s. m. The act of falling. पत्तन pattan (in comp.) A town, a city.

پڙوانا piṛwānā S̱. (caus. of پيڙنا) v. a. To cause to press, squeeze or pound.

پروانجات parwāna-jāt P (plur. of پروانه) s. m. 1. Orders. 2. Licenses, passes.

پلساٿ pilsāṭ S̱. (from پيلا pīlā, q. v.) s. f. Yellowness. P.A. پل سراط pul-sirāt̤, s. m. The bridge over which Musalmāns believe they must pass into paradise.
