بان bān P (used as an affix in compos. only) Keep- er, guardian; so, دربان dar-bān, Door-keeper; سگبان sag-bān, Dog-keeper. H.S̱. بان بان کرنا bāṅ bāṅ karnā, v. a. To prate idly, to talk foolishly.

بٿ پار baṭ-pār S̱. (باٿ Road, and پاڙنا To throw down) s. m. Highwayman, footpad, villain, cut-throat, assassin.

بکواهي bakwāhī S̱. f. (from بکنا) part. act. A chatterer, an idle talker.

بهڙانا bhiṛānā H (caus. of بهڙنا) v. a. 1. To join, to place close to, to close. 2. To cause to fight.

بسن پٿ bisan-paṭ S̱. (from व्यसन) s. m. A ha- bit of indulging desire.

بيلنا belnā वेलन S̱. 1. s. m. A rolling pin. 2. v. a. To spread out, to laminate.

باد bād P (Sans. वात) s. f. Wind, air, breeze, gale. بادپيما bād-paimā, adj. 1. Swift, match ing the winds; a swift horse. 2. A worthless person who cares not what he says, an idle talker, a false speaker, one busied in useless labour. بادتند bād-i tund, A stormy wind. بادرفتار bād raftār, adj. Swift as the wind. بادسموم bād-i-samūm, s. f. A hot pestilential wind. بادسي بات کرنا bād se bāt karnā, To go very quickly, to be very swift. بادشرطه bād- i-shurt̤a, A fair wind, a favourable wind. بادصبا bād-i-ṣabā, s. f. The morning breeze, a zephyr, a refreshing gale. بادفرنگ bād-i-fa- rang, The pox. بادمخالف bād-i-muḵẖālif, s. f. A contrary wind. بادمراد bād-i-murād, s. f. A fair or favourable wind.
