بيد वेद bed S or veda, s. m. A Veda, or the Ve- das in the aggregate. The original Veda is be- lieved by the Hindūs to have been revealed by Brahmā, and to have been preserved by tra- dition until it was arranged in its present order by a sage, who thence obtained the surname of Vyāsa or Vedavyāsa, that is, compiler of the Vedas. He distributed the Indian scripture into four parts, which are severally entitled ऋग् Rig, यजुष् Yajush̤, साम Sāma, and अथर्व Atharva; and each of them bears the common name of Veda.

بهربهري bharbharī S̱. (from بهربهرانا) s. f. A swelling, a sore.

بيچوبه be-choba (lit. P pole-less) s. m. A kind of tent pitched without a pole.

بلي ballī H s. f. A prop, a pole, a long pole or bamboo to steer or move a boat with. بلي مارنا ballī mārnā, To steer. ¶ billī, The bolt of a door, a bar.

بيوگ biyog S (वियोग) s. m. Separation, ab- sence (especially, of lovers). See بجوگ bi-jog.

برداري bar-dār-ī P s. f. (in compos.) The act of bearing, carrying, &c.

باري bārī H s. f. 1. A window. 2. The name of a cast of Hindūs whose business it is to sell torches and leaves which are used as platters. 3. An ornament worn in the ear and nose.

بنبک bimbuk S̱. (विम्बक from विम्ब see بنب) adj. Red, fiery, flame coloured.

بازار bāzār P s. m. A market.
