برهمچاري ब्रह्मचारी brahmachārī S s. m. A re- ligious student, a Brāhmaṇ from the time of his investiture with the sacerdotal thread till he becomes a householder, a person who continues with his spiritual teacher studying the Veda, a Panḍit learned in the Veda, an ascetick.

بکنا biknā S̱. (from विक्रय Sale, or वि and r. क्री Buy) v. n. To be sold, to sell. بک جانا bik-jānā (met.) To be dependant on, to be obliged.

بهاٿهيال bhāṭhiyāl H adj. Down, below, down the river, with the stream. See بهٿهيال.

بنکاٴي bankāʼī वंकता S̱. s. f. A bending, cur- vature, reach or bend of a river.

بياري byārī H s. f. Supper. See بيالو byālū.

بنڐي banḍī H s. f. A short robe, a short full جامه jāma.

بيڙا beṛā वेटप S̱. s. m. 1. A raft, a float. 2. The raft which is floated by the Muhammadans in honour of ḵẖẉāja ḵẖiẓr. (Besides the anni- versary beṛa offered to propitiate him, hundreds of smaller ones with lamps may be seen on Thursdays of the month bhādoṅ particularly, which are offered by the Muhammadans to this saint). بيڙاباندهنا beṛa bāndhnā, v. a. To col- lect a crowd. بيڙاپارکرنايالگانا beṛā pār karnā or lagānā, To relieve from distress, to remove difficulties, to help one through a business (lit. to ferry over a raft). بيڙاپارهونا beṛā pār honā, To obtain deliverance from misfortune or distress, to succeed.

بٿهنا baṭhnā H v. n. To enter.

بپوتي bapautī H (from باپ) s. f. Paternal estate; patrimony, heritage.

بسيلا biselā S̱. (from विष Poison) adj. Venomous.
