باڙ bāṛ S̱. (r. वट or वड Surround) s. f. Edge (of a sword, knife, &c.), verge, edge, margin, a fence, a hedge, a line (of soldiers); name of a place near Monger. باڙاڙانا bāṛ uṛānā, To fire a volley. باڙباندهنا bāṛ bāndhnā, To enclose a field with thorns. باڙپکڙانا bāṛ pakṛānā, To encourage, to teach. باڙجهاڙنا bār jhāṛnā, To fire a volley. باڙچروانا bāṛ chirwānā, or باڙچيرنا bāṛ chīrnā, To sharpen. باڙدلوانا bāṛ dil-wānā, or باڙدينا bāṛ denā, To sharpen, to grind; to excite, to instigate, animate. باڙرکهنا bāṛ rakhnā, To sharpen.

باهمني bāhman-ī S. s. f. The wife of a Brāhman, a Brāhmaness. See بامهني bāmhnī.

بورو boro H s. m. 1. Rainbow. 2. The name of a kind of rice which is cut in March.

بوارا boʼārā H (from بونا) s. m. Seedtime.

بعض baﻌẓ A adj. Some, certain ones, several.

بور būr H adj. Barren (land). s. f. Chaff, husk. بورکالڐو būr kā laḍḍū, A sort of sweetmeat made with the husk of grain. (The confectioners avow the imposition and cry out to passengers, "youʼll repent if you eat it, or regret not tasting it." Hence, great men are sometimes called بورکالڐو when they make a practice of encou- raging their dependants to hope, but do nothing for them at last; as, dancing attendance on them and neglecting them are each likely to produce regret. The term also means, any person or thing, which is fair without and foul within, or

بجرا bajrā S̱. (perhaps, from بجر q. v. implying Hard, heavy) s. m. A boat for travelling in, a pleasure boat of a larger kind.

بچي bachchī P. s. f. (from بچه bachcha) A fe- male young one.

بٿئي baṭaʼī S̱. (from بٿنا To twist) s. f. The art of making gold thread.
