بيترني baitarnī S (वैतरणी) s. f. 1. A river, according to the Hindūs, which is to be crossed by the dead on their way into the world of spirits, like the Styx of the ancients. 2. A river in Orissa.

بشم bisham S (विषम) adj. Unequalled (in a bad sense), difficult, bad, afflictive. بشمجر bi- sham-jar (or bish̤am-jwar, विषमज्वर) s. m. An inflammatory fever, a high fever.

بيجابرکهنڐ bījābarkhanḍ विजनवरखंड S̱. s. m. A forest.

برقع burḳaﻌ A (or برقعه burḳaʼaﻌ) s. m. A dress or kind of veil with eye-holes to it, covering the whole body from head to foot. برقع پوش burḳaﻌ- posh, One who wears a burḳaﻌ.

بت but P s. m. An idol, image, statue; a be- loved object, a mistress. (Plur. بتان). بت پرست but-parast, An idolater. بت برستي but- parast-ī, s. f. Idolatry. بت تراش but-tarāsh, A sculptor, a carver of idols. بت تراشي but- tarāsh-ī, s. f. The art of a sculptor, sculpture, statuary. بتخانه but-ḵẖāna, s. m. An idol- temple.

بيوتات buyūtāt A s. plur. of بيت bait, q. v.; household expenses.

بسا basā P adj. Much, very. بسابزرگ basā buzurg, Very great, very noble. بسااوقات basā auḳāt, Mostly, often, frequently.
