هنس हंस hans S s. m. 1. A duck, a goose. 2. (met.) Life. هنسگمني hans-gamanī or هنسگوني hans-gawanī, adj. Walking gracefully as the swan (a woman).

هلال hilāl A (from هلّ Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. The new moon, the first and last two or three days of the moon. هلال دور hilāl-daur, A kind of bow.

هامان hāmān P s. Name of a brother of Abra- ham, also of Pharaohʼs minister.

هاها hāhā A s. m. Laughing, ha ha! هاها هي هي hāhā hīhī, s. f. Laughing. هاها هي هي کرنا hāhā hīhī karnā, To laugh. هاها جگي جگي hāhā jigī jigī, An expression of approbation, also of earnest request.

هالک hālik A (part. act. of هلک) adj. 1. Pe- rishing. 2. Causing to perish, destructive.

هيوانت hewānt हेमंत S̱. s. m. Name of a sea- son. See هيمنت hemant.

هون کرنا hūṅ karnā S̱. (हूम् or हुम् interj. of an- ger, fear, &c. or a mystical monosyllable, and करण making) To make the sound hūṅ, in an- ger, from fear, or as an incantation, &c.

همزه hamza A s. The orthographical mark (ٴ).
