هرس haris हलीषा S̱. s. f. The tail of a plough.

هشکالنا hushkālnā H v. a. (dakh.) To halloo (set the dogs on), incite (Harris).

هويٰ hawạ̄ A s. f. Desire, love, inclination, will, wish.

هير हीर hīr S 1. s. m. Essence. 2. Pith, ener- gy, vigour. 3. adj. Essential, pure.

هتهکهنڐا hath-khanḍā S̱. s. m. Habit, custom, knack.

هلکا halkā H adj. Light (in weight or character), debased, mean, silly, easy, soft, cheap. هلکاپن halkā-pan, s. m. Lightness, levity, vanity, des- picableness. هلکا جاننا halkā jānnā, To disdain, to disesteem. هلکا کرنا halkā karnā, To lighten, exonerate, to ease, assuage, debase, abase, de- preciate, affront.

هار hār H (in compos.) means the performer of any act, and corresponds frequently to the English terminations er or ing; as, بہارآٴي نه ديکهن هارآيا انارآيا نه چاکهن هارآيا Bahār āʼī na dekhan-hār āyā; anār āyā, na chākhan-hār āyā. The spring is arrived, but no one is come to behold it; the pomegranates are ready, but there is no one to taste them. P. S. هار hār, 1. s. m. (s. हार) A necklace of pearls, &c. a wreath, a chaplet (of flowers, worn as a necklace). 2. (for हारि) A flock (of cattle). 3. Pasturage. 4. s. f. Loss, for- feiture, discomfiture. 5. part. act. (from هارنا) Being overcome. هارماننا يا مان لينا hār-mānnā, or -mān lenā, To give up a dispute, to give up in despair, to acknowledge all lost. هارجيت hār jīt, Gambling, hazard. هار جيت کرنا hār jīt karnā, To gamble.

هشت hasht P (Sans. अष्ट) adj. Eight. هشت پہلو hasht-pahlū, or هشت منظري hasht-man- z̤ar-ī, adj. Octangular.
