وعده waﻌda A (from وعد Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. A promise, vow, agreement, bargain, assigna- tion, appointment. وعده خلاف waﻌda-ḵẖilāf, 1. A false contract. 2. A person who does not keep his promise. وعده خلافي waﻌda-ḵẖilāf-ī, s. f. Breach of promise. وعده شکن waﻌda- shikan, A promisebreaker. وعده فراموش waﻌda- farāmosh, Forgetful of oneʼs promise. وعده کرنا waﻌda karnā, To promise, to appoint, make an appointment, &c., make a bargain. وعده گاه waﻌda-gāh, Place of assignation or appoint- ment. وعده وعيد waﻌda-waʼīﻌd, Evading a pro- mise. وعده وفا waﻌda-wafā, Observing oneʼs promise, punctual, true to oneʼs word.

وراد warrād A. (from ورد) s. m. A gardener.

وهب wahb A (Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. Giving, bestowing.

ويتا wetā H adj. So much, that-much.

وحيد waḥīd A (from وحد) adj. Alone, unique, singular. وحيد العصر waḥīdu-l-aﻌṣr, The nonpa- reil of the age.

وتيره watīra A (from وتر or rather from Heb. To stretch, to extend) s. m. 1. A path, way. 2. Manner, habit, custom. نيک وتيره nek watīra, A good disposition.

وصول wuṣūl A (from وصل) s. m. Arrival, conjunc- tion, acquisition or enjoyment (of any thing desired). وصول کرنا wuṣūl karnā, To collect. وصول هونا wuṣūl honā, To get, to be arrived.

وعظ waﻌz̤ A (Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. Advice, admonition, exhortation; sermon.

وصمت waṣmat A (from وصم) s. f. Reproach, dis- grace, crime, sin, fault, torpor, languor.

وزان wazzān A (from وزن) s. A great weigher, a great composer of verses.
