وقف waḳf A s. m. 1. Standing, stopping, under- standing. 2. Tranquillity, firmness, constancy, permanency. 3. A legacy for pious uses, an endowment or dedication or foundation for pub- lick charity. وقف خم چوگان waḳf-i-ḵẖam-i-chaugān, Implies very humbly devoted. وقف کرنا waḳf karnā, To dedicate to pious uses.

وهمي wahm-ī A adj. Imaginary, conjectural, vi- sionary, fanciful, ideal.

وقيه wuḳīya A or wuḳaiya, s. A weight of seven mis̤ḳāl, an ounce.

ولي walī A s. m. 1. A prince, lord, master, friend, friend of God, saint. 2. A servant, a slave. ولي عہد walī-aﻌhd, 1. An heir. 2. A locum tenens, vicegerent. ولي عہدي walī-aﻌhd-ī, 1. Heritage, the state of being an heir apparent. 2. Deputyship. ولي کهنگر walī-khangar, s. m. An assistant, protector. ولي نعمت walī-niﻌmat, A title of respect by which a father is addressed, patron, benefactor.

وزر wizr A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. A crime, sin, fault. 2. Arms. 3. A burden, a load.

وست वस्तु vastu S s. f. Thing, matter, sub- stance. وست بهاو वस्तुभाव vastu-bhāv, s. f. Chattels, things, baggage.

ون win H (in Braj) pron. 3d pers. plur. (same as ان un) Them, those.

وال wāl H adj. (dakh.) Superiour, excelling, over- topping: see فايق fāʼịḳ.

واضع wāẓiﻌ A part. act. (of وضع Heb. and Chald. ) Placing, establishing. s. m. An inventor, founder, establisher.

وصف waṣf A s. m. Praise, encomium, descrip- tion, description of qualities, merit, virtue, worth, quality, attribute, epithet. وصف کرنا waṣf karnā, To describe.
