واڙ वाट wāṛ S (An enclosed piece of ground, a garden, &c.) A termination in compos. denoting place or en- closure; as, ستيواڙ satī-wāṛ, The place where a ستي satī is burned; پهولواڙي phūl-wāṛī, A flower- garden.

واچهڙي wāchhiṛe H s. m. plur. Praising, ap- plauding; bravo! well done! aha!

وعظ waﻌz̤ A (Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. Advice, admonition, exhortation; sermon.

وثيق was̤īḳ A (from وثق) adj. Firm, steady, strong.

وارن wāran H s. m. 1. Offerings, oblations. 2. Sacrifices. See وارا signif. 2.

وا wā P 1. adj. Open. 2. adv. Again, back. 3. prep. With; as وا اوگفتم for با اوگفتم I spoke with him. 4. interj. An expression of pain. واشد wā-shud, s. f. or واشدن wā-shudan, s. Becoming open, expanding, opening. واکرنا wā- karnā, v. a. To open. وامانده wā-mānda, (1.) Tired, fatigued. (2.) Remaining behind. (Plur. وا ماندگان). واهونا wā honā, v. n. To become open; to open, be freed or liberated, become cheerful or relieved of sorrow. 5. s. See آش āsh.

وقوع wuḳūﻌ A (from وقع Heb. ) s. m. A contingency, accident, event, occurrence, the hap- pening, the coming to pass.

ولايت wilāyat A s. f. 1. An inhabited country, dominion, district; a foreign country, abroad. 2. Possession, being master of any thing, so- vereignty. 3. Friendship, union (especially, with God); sanctity.

وقف waḳf A s. m. 1. Standing, stopping, under- standing. 2. Tranquillity, firmness, constancy, permanency. 3. A legacy for pious uses, an endowment or dedication or foundation for pub- lick charity. وقف خم چوگان waḳf-i-ḵẖam-i-chaugān, Implies very humbly devoted. وقف کرنا waḳf karnā, To dedicate to pious uses.
