نجبا nujabā A s. plur. of نجيب najīb, q. v.

نوم naum A (Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. Sleep.

نامزد nām-zad P adj. Destined, declared, ap- pointed, named; s. A betrothed damsel.

نارنگي nārangī नारंग S̱. s. f. An orange.

نواله nawāla P (or Hind. niwāla) s. m. 1. A mor- sel, a mouthful, 2. The wadding of a gun.

نجيب najīb A (from نجب) adj. 1. Excellent, noble, generous, praiseworthy. 2. (subst.) A hero, a volunteer. 3. A certain class of Indian soldiers who are distinguished by a peculiar dress. نجيب الطرفين najību-t̤-t̤arafain, Noble on both sides (by father and mother).

نيسان naisān P s. m. Name of the 7th Syrian month, corresponding to the Persian فروردين and Hindī بيساکهہ baisākh. ابرنيسان abr-i-naisān, or ابرنيساني abr-i-naisānī, 1. The vernal cloud or rain. 2. The rain which falls while the moon is in the mansion swāti; and of which, if it drops into a shell, pearls are formed; but which turns to poison, if it happens to fall into the mouth of a serpent. See سوات swāti.

نضج nuẓj A (or naẓj) s. m. Ripening, cooking; suppuration (of a wound).
