نہتيا nihatyā S̱. (नि for निर् prep. and हस्त Hand) adj. Unarmed.

نقيه naḳīh A (from نقه) adj. Faint, feeble, weak.

نصاب niṣāb A (from نصب Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. 1. A root, origin, principle. 2. Dignity, fortune. 3. Capital, principal, property. 4. A certain estate or number of cattle for which a tax is paid. نصاب الصبيان niṣābu-ṣ-ṣibyān (lit. the capital stock of children) The title of an Arabic Vocabulary with Persian translation in rhyme.

ناگ پهانس nāg-phāṅs नागपाश S̱. s. f. A noose used to seize an enemy in battle (re- sembling the arms of the Retiarii among the Roman gladiators), a noose of a rope.

نواح nawāḥ A (contract. for نواحي plur. of ناحيه from نحو) s. f. Environs, district, tract, coast, shore. ¶ nuwāḥ (from نوح) s. m. Act of la- menting, bewailing, complaining.

نگچانا nagchānā S̱. (perhaps, from निकट Near) v. n. To approach.

نبرد nabard P s. m. Battle, engagement, war.

نزهت nuzʼhat A (from نزه) s. f. 1. Verdure, freshness, pleasure, delight, cheerfulness. 2. Distance. 3. Integrity. 4. Ornament.

نيگي جوگي neg-ī jogī H Tenants and dependants, to whom it is customary to give the neg, q. v. P. S. نيل nīl (नील) s. m. Indigo, blue. نيل يا نيل کا ماٿهہ بگڙنا nīl, or nīl kā māṭh bigaṛnā (lit.) A vat of indigo being spoiled, is used (met.) 1. To express the persecutions of fortune.
