نجف najaf A s. m. 1. High ground to which water does not reach. 2. Name of a place in which is the tomb of Aﻌlī.

نگلنا nigalnā S̱. (नि prep. and r. गल Eat or गृ Swallow) v. a. To swallow, to gulp down.

نندکاٴي nindak-āʼī S̱. s. f. Querulousness, cen- soriousness.

Virtue, good fortune. نيک پاک nek-pāk, Virtuous. نيک تدبير nek-tadbīr, Good in counsel or management. نيک تن nek-tan, Sleek-skinned

نر निर् nir S prep. Out, without (on the out- side), without (not having). The reverse of नि. As, निर्गंध nir-gandh, Scentless.

نيسان naisān P s. m. Name of the 7th Syrian month, corresponding to the Persian فروردين and Hindī بيساکهہ baisākh. ابرنيسان abr-i-naisān, or ابرنيساني abr-i-naisānī, 1. The vernal cloud or rain. 2. The rain which falls while the moon is in the mansion swāti; and of which, if it drops into a shell, pearls are formed; but which turns to poison, if it happens to fall into the mouth of a serpent. See سوات swāti.

نوگري naugarī S̱. s. f. An ornament for females worn on the wrist.

نبهانا nibhānā S̱. (causal of نبهنا) v. a. To perform, to guard, &c. See نباهنا nibāhnā.

نقير naḳīr A (from نقر Heb. and Aram. ) 1. s. m. A trough of a hollowed palm tree in which they make a strong wine of dates, &c. 2. The spot on the back of a date stone through which the young plant shoots; (hence) adj. Very small, of little moment, meanest. نقير وقطمير
