ماهي māhī P s. f. A fish; the fish on which the earth is supposed to rest. ماهي توه māhī-tawa, s. m. A fryingpan. ماهي خوار māhī-ḵẖẉār, s. m. A heron, cormorant. ماهي دندان māhī- dandān, A fishʼs tooth, of which the hilts of swords, &c. are made. ماهي فروش māhī-farosh, s. m. A fish-man, or -monger. ماهي گير māhī- gīr, s. m. 1. A fisherman. 2. An otter. (Lutra lutreola: Shaw). ماهي مراتب māhī-marātib, s. m. Certain honours, of which the privilege is especially conferred on princes and great nobles. They are denoted by the figure of a fish, with other insignia (two balls), carried as ensigns upon elephants.
