مارنا mārnā S̱. (मारण or caus. of مرنا marnā, q. v.) v. a. To smite, strike, hit, kill, slay, beat, bang, drive, shoot, punish, mortify, cast, mar, blight, blast, spoil, ruin, conquer, crack, de- stroy, break, fine, take, set, smother, stamp, sting, stop, calm, throw, toss, quench, run. (subst.) Striking, &c. S. H. مارنـﮩارا māran-hārā, s. m. Smiter, slayer.

مواشي mawāshī A s. plur. (of ماشية from مشي) Quadrupeds, cattle.

مکهہ मुख mukh S s. m. The mouth, the face. مکهہ بيڙ mukh-bheṛ, adj. (dakh.) Opposite, in front: see مقابل muḳābil.

مردنيان mardaniyāṅ मार्द्दनीयाः S̱. s. m. plur. Attendants whose business it is to rub oil, per- fumed paste, &c. over the body.

مغرب mag̠ẖrab A or mag̠ẖrib (noun of place of غرب) s. m. The west, sunset.

مصر muṣirr A (part. act. IV. of صرّ Heb. and Aram. ) adj. Persisting, persevering, ob- stinate.

مات māt S̱. s. f. 1. (मात्रा) Accent, a vowel. 2. (माता) Mother. ¶ مات کي بهاجي māt kī bhājī (dakh.) Name of a vegetable (Ama- ranthus tristis): see ماٿ کي بهاجي.

متاثر mutaʼas̤s̤ir A (part. act. V. of اثر) adj. Pro- ducing effect or impression, efficacious, affected.

موکي mūkī मुष्टि S̱. s. f. A thump, a blow of the fist.

مداوتني madāwatnī H s. f. (dakh.) A female go- between employed in looking out for a wife.
