منگنا mangnā S̱. v. a. (dakh.) To ask for, &c. See مانگنا māngnā.

معتقد muﻌtaḳid A (part. act. VIII. of عقد Heb. and Aram. ) adj. Confident; s. m. A be- liever, a faithful friend or servant, an adherent.

مشي mashī A s. f. Walking, going.

مسل मुसल musal S s. m. A long, heavy, wooden pestle, used in clearing rice from the husk. مسل دهاربرسنا musal dhār barasnā, v. n. To rain very heavily.

ميغ meg̠ẖ P (Sans. मेघ) s. m. 1. A cloud. 2. A mist, a fog.

متعدي mutaʼaﻌddī A (part. act. V. from عدو Heb. Chald. ) s. m. 1. A transgressor, a wicked wretch. 2. An active, transitive, or causal (verb).

مدار madār A (noun of place from دور Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. 1. A circumference, a centre, a place of turning or returning. 2. A place where one stops or stands, a station, a seat.

مال کنگني mālkangnī H s. f. Celastrus. (Staff- tree).

مچهـ machh S or machchha (मच्छ or मत्स्य) s. m. 1. A fish in general. 2. The name of the first avatār, or incarnation, when Vish̤ṇu appeared in the shape of the small fish (शफरी) sapharī, to Satyavrata, or Hayagrīva, to warn him of the general deluge, and desire him to place the four Vedas in the boat which he (Vish̤ṇu) would preserve. The fish was first taken up by Hayagrīva in his hands when bathing, being then of the size of the sapharī (or ponṭhī); but, it grew too large for being contained in a tank, river, &c. and was carried to the sea; where, afterwards, it supported the
