مشين mushīn A (part. act. IV. of شين) adj. Vil- lainous, worthless. ¶ mushaiyan (part. pass. II. of شأن Heb. ) adj. Stately, dignified.

مشقت mashaḳḳat A (inf. of شقّ) s. f. Trouble, labour, pains, toil, assiduity.

مي فروش mai-farosh P s. m. A seller of wine, a vintner.

منقبت manḳabat A (from نقب Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. (dakh. m.) Praise, virtue, abilities.

مکري mukrī H s. f. A kind of short poem of frequent use in the Braj dialect, the peculia- rities of which are these. It consists of four lines, each composed of four trochees. In the three first the speaker, a female, appears to talk of her lover; but, on the question being put by a friend, applies the whole to some other object. Hence the name from mukarnā, To deny. The following is an example. باٿ چلت مروانچراگہي ميري سني نه اپني کہي ناکچهہ موسون جهگڙا جهانٿا کيون سکهي سجن ناسکهي کانٿا Bāṭ chalat miro anchrā gahe; merī sune na apnī kahe. Nā kachhu mo soṅ jhagṛā jhānṭā; kyūṅ sakhī sajjan? nā sakhī kānṭā. As I went along the road, he seized my robe; neither heard what I said, nor made any reply. In short we had not the smallest dispute. Who, friend, your lover? no, friend, a thorn. A. P. مکري makr-ī, adj. Deceitful.

مطلق mut̤laḳ A (part. pass. IV. of طلق Aram. ) adj. Absolute, altogether, universal, prin- cipal, supreme. adv. Wholly, at all, not in the least, never, entirely, altogether. مطلق العنان mut̤laḳu-l-iﻌnān, Free, giving the reins.

موخر muʼaḵẖḵẖir A (part. act. II. of أخر Heb. ) adj. 1. Posterior, consequent. 2. De- layed, procrastinated.

ممياساس mamiyā-sās मातुलीयश्वश्रू S̱. Hus- band or wifeʼs maternal aunt.

مکلل mukallal A (part. pass. II. of کلّ) adj. Crowned, adorned with jewels.

مژه mizha P s. f. The eyelash.
