مـﮩير maher H s. m. The name of a dish, consisting of rice or other grain, boiled in sour milk.

محروميت maḥrūm-īyat A. (from حرم) s. f. Prohi- bition, disappointment.

متا matā S̱. 1. (for मत) s. m. Counsel, advice. 2. (for मत्त) adj. (dakh.) Intoxicated, furious, mad (an elephant).

مکبر mukabbir A (part. act. II. of کبر) adj. Mag- nifying; one who magnifies (God, saying الله اکبر).

متهرا मथुरा mathurā S s. f. A town in the pro- vince of Āgra, celebrated as the birthplace and early residence of Kr̤ish̤ṇa, and still an object of pilgrimage amongst Hindūs.

مدد madad H s. (dakh.) Betel-leaf mixed with opium and used for smoking. (Qanoon-e-islam). A. P. مدد گار madad-gār, An assister, aider, pro- tector, ally, auxiliary, helper. A. P. مدد گاري madad-gār-ī, s. f. Assistance.

مرکونڐي murkūṅḍī H or muṛkūṅḍī (dakh. i. q. اوندهي منڐي) Head downwards, head reversed(?). مرکونڐي مارنا murkūṅḍī mārnā, v. (dakh.) To take to the bed, to be confined to bed or to be bedrid.

ميا mayā माया S̱. s. f. Kindness, pity, sym- pathy, compassion, mercy, feeling, affection. See مايا māyā.

مروه marwa A n. prop. Name of a mountain near Mecca.
