مرخص muraḵẖḵẖaṣ A (part. pass. II. of رخص Heb. ) adj. Permitted, allowed (to depart).

مڙوڙنا maṛoṛnā H v. a. See مروڙنا maroṛnā.

مغفر mig̠ẖfar A (noun of instrum. from غفر) s. m. A helmet.

مـﮩيلا mahelā H s. f. A food given to horses, consisting of boiled kidney beans (Phaseolus max), a mash.

ماهتابي māhtāb-ī P 1. s. f. A kind of firework, blue-light. 2. A sort of muskmelon. 3. (dakh.) Cloth on which are pasted devices of the hea- venly bodies in gold or silver. (Qanoon-e-islam).

متکا muttakā A (from وکأ) s. m. Any thing to re- cline on, a cushion, a couch.

مکري mukrī H s. f. A kind of short poem of frequent use in the Braj dialect, the peculia- rities of which are these. It consists of four lines, each composed of four trochees. In the three first the speaker, a female, appears to talk of her lover; but, on the question being put by a friend, applies the whole to some other object. Hence the name from mukarnā, To deny. The following is an example. باٿ چلت مروانچراگہي ميري سني نه اپني کہي ناکچهہ موسون جهگڙا جهانٿا کيون سکهي سجن ناسکهي کانٿا Bāṭ chalat miro anchrā gahe; merī sune na apnī kahe. Nā kachhu mo soṅ jhagṛā jhānṭā; kyūṅ sakhī sajjan? nā sakhī kānṭā. As I went along the road, he seized my robe; neither heard what I said, nor made any reply. In short we had not the smallest dispute. Who, friend, your lover? no, friend, a thorn. A. P. مکري makr-ī, adj. Deceitful.

منطق mant̤iḳ A (from نطق) s. f. Oration, logick. ¶ munt̤iḳ (part. act. IV.) adj. Rational (a number) in opposition to a surd.

متهريا mathuriyā माथुरीय S̱. s. m. Name of a cast of Brāhmaṇs of Mathurā.

متهن मिथुन mithun S s. m. 1. The constella- tion Gemini. 2. A pair. (Hence, the Bengalese represented the constellation by a man and woman).
