لت lat लता S̱. s. f. The hanging branch of a creeper.

لقب laḳab A s. m. A title, surname (either honourable or opprobrious), by-name.

لولو lūlū P s. m. 1. A people in Persia, called also Kārājī. 2. A goblin to frighten children. (Burh. ḳāt̤.).

لوني launī S̱. (from लवन Reaping, r. लू Cut) s. f. Wages in kind to reapers in harvest time.

لوپ लोप lop S s. m. 1. Cutting off, elision, apocope (in grammar). 2. Disappearance, de- struction; (in compos. with a verb) vanished, disappeared.

لحد laḥad A s. f. 1. A niche in the side of a se- pulchre in which dead bodies are deposited. 2. (in Hindūstān) A place where the dead are washed.

لقندرا luḳandrā H s. m. A rake, a profligate.

لپکا lapkā H s. m. 1. A snatch. 2. Nimbleness. 3. A bad custom or habit. Mīr says: اپني توجـﮩان آنکهـ لڙي پهر وهين ديکهو آينه کو لپکا هي پريشان نظري کا Upnī to jahāṅ ānkh laṛī phir wahīṅ dekho; āʼīne ko lapkā hai pareshān-naz̤arī kā. Where I first fell in love, there you will see me; (I am not like) the mirror (which) is in the habit of casting its glances in all directions.

لغت lug̠ẖat A (from لغو To speak, especially vain or foolish things) s. f. 1. Tongue, speech, dialect, language. 2. Dictionary. 3. A word.

لومڙي lomṛī लोमशा S̱. s. f. A fox.
