گنيس गणेश gaṇes S The name of a Hindū di- vinity. The Janus of the Hindūs. The god of wisdom, represented with an elephantʼs head and attended by a rat. He was the son of Mahādeva and of a daughter of the mountain Himālaya, and is invoked at the commence- ment of every affair of consequence. S. گنين guṇ-iyan, adj. (in Braj) plur. of گني guṇ-ī, q. v. S. گو गो or गौ go or gau, s. m. f. A cow, one of the cow kind.

کدارا kidārā केदार S̱. s. m. Name of a mu- sical mode or rāginī, sung in the midnight of summer.

کالا kālā S̱. (Sans. काल) 1. adj. Black, dark. کالا چور kālā chor, An unknown person. 2. s. m. Name of a snake. 3. Time. 4. Name of Kr̤ish̤ṇa. کالا بال kālā bāl, s. m. The lower part of the belly, the pubes. کالا بال اپنا جاننا يا سمجهنا kālā bāl apnā jānnā or samajhnā, To despise (any one) exceedingly. کالا دانه kālā dāna, Name of a purgative seed. (Convolvu- lus nil?). کالا جيره kālā jīra, or کالا زيره kālā zīra, s. m. Seeds of the Nigella indica: Roxb. کالا منـہہ کرنا kālā muṅh karnā, 1. To break off all connexion with another. 2. To disgrace. 3. To copulate. 4. To expel. کالا نمک kālā namak, s. m. A kind of rock-salt impregnated with sulphur and bitumen, which leaves an hepa- tick flavour in the mouth. (It is much used medicinally). کالي برن kāle baran, Of the co- lour of a snake. کالي کوس kāle kos, A great distance.

گهورنا ghūrnā H v. a. 1. To stare at, to stare, to fix the eyes on, to look about. 2. To look at angrily.

کاپور kāpūr कर्पूर S̱. s. (dakh.) Camphor. See کافور kāfūr.

کابوک kābūk P s. f. A box or nest for pigeons, a pigeon-house.

کثير kas̤īr A (from کثر) adj. Many, much, abun- dant, fruitful. کثيرالعيال kas̤iru-l-iﻌyāl, Having a large family.

گوڙهتا गूढता gūṛh-tā S s. m. Abstruseness, se- crecy.
