قلابه ḳulāba A (from فلب To turn) s. m. A sta- ple, hinge, link, hook, hasp.

قدوه ḳidwa A s. m. An example, model, leader.

قد ḳadd A s. m. Stature. قد آور ḳadd-āwar, adj. Tall. قد خم کرنا ḳadd ḵẖam karnā, v. a. To bow down. قد خميده ḳadd-ḵẖamīda, Bent in stature. قد دار ḳadd-dār, Of fine stature. قد کش ḳadd-kash or قد کشيده ḳadd-kashīda, adj. Tall and straight of stature. قد کشي ḳadd- kash-ī, s. f. Talness and straightness of stature. قد و قامت ḳadd-o-ḳāmat, s. m. Stature, figure (of a person).

قصر ḳaṣr A (from قصر Heb. and Ch. To cut, to abbreviate, to diminish) s. m. 1. Diminution, defect. 2. Evening twilight (q. d. defect of light). 3. An edifice, a palace, a building, an elegant villa.

قبله ḳibla A s. m. 1. Any thing opposite. 2. That part to which people turn their face when at prayer; (hence, the word means) Mecca, an altar, temple; (and, by way of respectful address) Worship! Father! &c. قبلهٴحاجات ḳibla-i-ḥājāt, What is looked to for the attain- ment of necessities or desires. قبلهٴعالم ḳibla-e-āﻌlam, The ḳibla of the world, his Majesty, your Majesty! قبله کونين ḳibla-e-kaunain, The ḳibla of both worlds, applied to a father. قبله گاه ḳibla-gāh, The place turned to when at prayer, generally means a father or one beloved. قبله نما ḳibla-numā (lit. shewing the ḳibla or di- rection of Mecca) A marinerʼs compass, an in- strument to ascertain the direction of Mecca.

قحط ḳaḥt̤ A s. m. Famine, dearth. قحط زده ḳaḥt̤-zada, adj. Overwhelmed with dearth, fa- mished. قحط سالي ḳaḥt̤-sāl-ī, s. f. Famine, dearth.

قطعي ḳat̤ʼīﻌ A 1. adv. Verily. 2. s. f. A tailorʼs measure. 3. adj. Decisive, conclusive.

قيد ḳaid A s. f. 1. A fetter, imprisonment, bond, bondage. 2. An obligation, compact. 3. An obstacle. قيد خانه ḳaid-ḵẖāna, s. m. A prison. قيد رهنا ḳaid rahnā, To remain in bonds, in pri- son, &c. قيد کرنا ḳaid karnā, To imprison, bind, fetter, captivate. قيد هونا ḳaid honā, To be imprisoned, bound, or fettered, &c.

قصاب ḳaṣṣāb A (adj. superl. of قصب Heb. To cut in pieces) s. m. A butcher.

قرضي ḳarẓ-ī A. adj. Borrowed, on credit.
