قيراط ḳīrāt̤ A (from قرط To divide into small parts. A seed of the Abrus precatorius, taken out of the pod, keration, is the weight in question) s. m. A carat, the twenty-fourth part of an ounce: four barley-corns: Alf.

قضات ḳuẓāt A s. plur. (of قاضي) Judges, jus- tices. ¶ ḳaẓʼat (from قضئي ḳaẓiʼa, To rot, to spoil) s. f. Vice, disgrace, stain.

قرضي ḳarẓ-ī A. adj. Borrowed, on credit.

قيامي ḳiyām-ī A. s. f. Stability, steadiness.

قيمت ḳīmat A (from قوم) s. f. Price, value.

قريبه ḳarīb-a A adj. fem. of قريب ḳarīb, q. v.

قطار ḳat̤ār A or ḳit̤ār (from Chald. To bind, to tie together; which meaning is preserved in II. conj. of قطر) s. f. A line, string (of animals), rank, order, series, row, range, file.

قياس ḳiyās A (from قيس) s. m. Measuring or comparing (by reason), judgment, opinion, sup- position, thought, guess, theory, a syllogism. قياس کرنا ḳiyās karnā, To guess, think, sup- pose.

قفص ḳafaṣ A (Heb. and Chald. To re- strain, to shut up) s. m. A cage, a lattice, network.

قيمه ḳīma A s. m. 1. (perhaps from Gr. *xumos) Minced meat. قيمه پلاو ḳīma-pulāʼo, A kind of dish. 2. See قيمت ḳīmat.
