قوي ḳawī A adj. Strong, solid, powerful, vigo- rous. قوي پي ḳawī-pai, Sinewy. قوي دل ḳawī-dīl, Strong in the heart or mind. قوي هيکل ḳawī-haikal, Robust, powerful in body, gigantick.

قباله ḳabāla A (from قبل) s. m. A deed, writing, written agreement, contract, a bill of sale.

قسيس ḳissīs A s. m. A presbyter, a chief of the religious, a bishop.

قافله ḳāfila A (from Chald. and Syr. To roll, fold, compress; q. d. a compact multitude) s. m. A body of travellers, a caravan. (Hence قفل To return from a journey: Willmet). قافله سالار ḳāfila-sālār, The leader, or chief of a ca- ravan. قافله باشي ḳāfila-bāshī, s. f. The chief- tainship of a caravan.

قدر ḳadr A or ḳadar, s. f. 1. Worth, value, price, importance, dignity. 2. Quantity, size, magni- tude, bulk, measure; degree. 3. Destiny, fate.

قلعه ḳilʼaﻌ A (in Hind. but) properly ḳalʼaﻌ s. m. A fort. قلعه دار ḳilʼaﻌ-dār, Commandant of a garrison. قلعه داري ḳilʼaﻌ-dār-ī, s. f. The com- mand of a garrison.

قتل ḳatl A (Heb. ) s. m. Slaughter, killing, homicide, murder, assassination. قتل عام ḳatl-i-āﻌmm, A general massacre. قتل کرنا ḳatl karnā, To kill, to murder, execute. قتل گاه يا گـﮩ‍ہ ḳatl- gāh or -gah, Place of murder. قنل هونا ḳatl- honā, To be killed.

قلمه ḳulma A s. m. Sausage, or any food stuffed into the intestines of animals, haggis, black pudding.

قضاک ḳaẓẓāk U s. m. Robber, brigand, free- booter. U. P. قضاقي ḳaẓẓāḳ-ī, s. f. Pillage, brigandage.

قابض ḳābiẓ A (part. act. from قبض) 1. adj. Seizing, holding, grasping, taking. 2. Astrin- gent. 3. s. m. A receiver, possessor. قابض الارواح ḳābiẓu-l-arwāḥ, The angel of death.
