فاقه fāḳa A (from فوق Heb. ) s. m. 1. Po- verty, necessity, want. 2. (Pers. and in Hindī) A fast, fasting (from want, not as a religious duty). فاقه کرنا fāḳa karnā, To fast. فاقه کش fāḳa-kash, One who fasts, a faster, famished. فاقه کشي fāḳa-kash-ī, s. f. Fasting, endurance of hunger. فاقه کهـينچنا fāḳa khainchnā, or فاقون مرنا fāḳoṅ marnā, v. n. To starve, to be famished, to die with hunger. فاقه مست fāḳa- mast, One who is starving but conceals his distress.

فاتحه fātiḥa A (from فتح) 1. s. m. Commence- ment, exordium. 2. s. f. The first chapter or سوره of the ḳurʼān, which being repeated when praying for the souls of the dead, the word comes to mean prayers offered up in the name of saints, &c. and vulgarly oblations made to saints, &c.

فراز farāz P 1. s. m. Ascent, acclivity. 2. adj. High, aloft. 3. Exalted, exalting, elevating.

فشار fishār P s. m. Squeezing, pressing with the hand, compressing.

فريد بوٿي farīd būṭī H s. f. A kind of medicinal herb. (Menispermum hirsutum).

فگار figār P adj. 1. Lame, crippled, wounded. 2. Afflicted, confused, distracted. دل فگار dil-figār, Heart-afflicting. فگار دل figār-dil, adj. Wounded at heart, afflicted in mind.

فلسفي falsafī A s. m. A philosopher. See فيلسوف.

فاختئي fāḵẖta-ī P s. f. Dove-colour.

فردا fardā P adv. 1. Tomorrow. 2. (met. to ex- press the rapidity and certainty of its approach) The day of the resurrection. فرداي قيامت far- dā-e-ḳiyāmat, s. f. The day of resurrection.

فضيح faẓīḥ A (from فضح) adj. Ignominious, in- famous, disgraceful.
