عشا iﻌshā A s. m. 1. The first watch of the night.

عمر uﻌmr A s. f. Age, lifetime, period of life. ¶ uﻌmar, n. prop. The name of the second sove- reign in succession from Muḥammad.

عاقبت āﻌkibat A (from عقب Heb. ) s. f. 1. The end, conclusion, futurity, future state. 2 Success. 3. adv. Finally, at the end, at last, after all. عاقبت انديش āﻌḳibat-andesh, Pro- vident, prescient, considerate, discreet, looking into futurity. عاقبت اند يشي āﻌḳibat-andesh-ī, s. f. Foresight, regard to the issue, end, conse- quence or future.

عطار aﻌt̤t̤ār A (adj. superl. of عطر) s. m. A per- fumer, a druggist.

عفف aﻌfaf H An imitative sound (as, of a dog barking).

عا جز āﻌjiz A (part. act. of عجز ) adj. Unable, weak, humble, exhausted, dejected, hopeless. A.P. عاجزانه āﻌjiz-āna, adv. Weakly, humbly.

علوفه uﻌlūfa A (from علف) s. m. Stipend, salary, daily pay, subsistence money, provisions.

عقل aﻌḳl A s. f. Wisdom, opinion, sense, under- standing, intellect, reason. عقل تهـجنا aﻌḳl thij- nā (dakh. i. q. دنگ هونا) To be astonished (?). عقل خرچنا aﻌḳl ḵẖarachna (dakh) i. q. داناٴي کرنا dānā-ī karnā. عقل دوڙانا aﻌḳl dauṛānā, To consider, think, to reason.

عنقبوت aﻌnḳabūt A (Heb. comp. of عکب To do or make quickly, and عکش To weave a spiderʼs web: Schult.) s. f. A spider.

عقيق aﻌḳīḳ A (Ch. ) s. m. A cornelian.
