علي aﻌlī A adj. High, eminent, noble; a proper name, especially of Muḥammadʼs son-in-law. ¶ aﻌlạ̄, adv. عملا aﻌmalā A adv. In act, in deed.

عبا aﻌbā A or iﻌbā, s. plur. Garments said to be generally black and made of goatʼs hair.

عدن aﻌdn A (Heb. ) s. f. Eden, paradise. ¶ aﻌdan, Name of an island or town in Yaman.

عرس uﻌrs A s. m. 1. Oblations, offerings to a saint. 2. A marriage feast. ¶ iﻌrs, s. m. f. A spouse.

عجايبات aﻌjāʼịbāt A s. plur. See عجايب aﻌjāʼịb.

عجالت iﻌjālat A s. f. Haste, anticipation.

عروسي aﻌrūs-ī A adj. Nuptial, bridal.

عامل āﻌmil A (part. act. of عمل Heb. To work, to labour) s. m. An intendant of the finances, collector of the revenues, a ruler, go- vernour.
