طالب t̤ālib A part. act. (of طلب) 1. Asking, de- manding, interrogating. 2. s. m. An inquirer, a seeker, a lover, asker, candidate, exacter. طالب دنيا t̤ālib-i-dunyā, Worldly-minded. طالب علم t̤ālib-i-iﻌlm, Searching after knowledge, a student. طالب علمي t̤ālib-i-iﻌlm-ī, or طالب العلمي t̤ālibu-l-iﻌlm-ī, s. f. Search of knowledge, study. (Plur. Pers. طالبان Arab. طلبا).

طاقت t̤āḳat A s. f. Strength, power, force, pa- tience, ability. طاقت آزماٴي t̤āḳat-āzmā-ī, s. f. Trial of strength. طاقت سي طاق هونا t̤āḳat se t̤āḳ honā, To be weak, feeble, powerless. A.P. طاقچه t̤āḳ-cha, s. m. dimin. of طاق q. v.

طبقه t̤abḳa A (prop. t̤abaḳa) s. m. A story, floor, stage, degree, class, order, rank, shelf.

طغرا t̤ug̠ẖrā A s. m. 1. The royal titles prefixed to publick papers. 2. A sort of writing.

طوطا t̤otā H s. m. A parrot.

طمع t̤amaﻌ A (Ch. To be sunk or immersed) s. f. Avarice, covetousness, greediness, avidity, ambition. طمع کرنا t̤amaﻌ karnā, To covet.

طلبانه t̤alab-āna A. s. m. Daily pay to constables &c. paid by those they guard, &c. A. P. طلبدار t̤alab-dār, 1. adj. Desirous. 2. part. act. Asking, inquiring. 3. s. m. One who re- ceives pay. A. P. طلبگار t̤alab-gār, adj. Desirous; (substant.) A seeker. A. P. طلبگاري t̤alab-gār-ī, s. f. Desiring, wishing, inquiring, seeking.

طايف t̤āʼịf A part. act. (of طوف) 1. Going round, making the circuit of any thing. 2. s. Night- watches or patroles. 3. Name of a city in Arabia.

طريقت t̤arīḳat A s. f. 1. Way, path. 2. Man- ner, mode. 3. Reli- gion, sect. 4. The better sort of people.

طويل t̤awīl A (from طول) adj. Long, tall, prolix, diffuse.
