صم ṣumm A (from صمّ Ch. To contract, to ob- struct, to stop up) adj. Deaf. صمٌ بکم ṣummuṉ bukm, adj. Deaf and dumb.

صالح ṣāliḥ A (part. act. of صلح Heb. To be good or useful) adj. Good, apt, fit, proper. s. m. 1. A man of probity and honour. 2. A sedate, steady person (opposite to enthusiast).

صدر ṣadr A (from صدر To proceed, to come forth, to become publick, to be revealed: Ch. To arrange, to regulate) s. f. 1. The breast, the foremost or highest part of any thing, the first place or seat in an assembly. 2. Exaltation,

صد ṣad P adj. Hundred. (Sans. शत). صدمني ṣad-man-ī, adj. Containing a hundred man.

صراف ṣarrāf A (adj. superl. from صرف) s. m. A banker, a moneychanger.

صنع ṣanﻌ A s. Making, creation. ¶ ṣinﻌ, adj. Dexterous, clever.

صفاٴي ṣafā-ī A. s. f. Purity, cleanness, clearness, perspicuity. صفاٴي بتاني ṣafā-ī batānī, To reject a petition without ceremony, to refuse flatly. صفاٴي کرنا ṣafā-i karnā, To make clean work of it, to accomplish fully.

صندوقي ṣandūḳ-ī A. adj. Like a box. (Applied to a tomb and a scabbard of a sword made in that form).
