صحرا ṣaḥrā A s. m. A desert, a plain. صحراگرد ṣaḥrā-gard, Wandering or travelling through deserts. صحرا نشين ṣaḥrā-nishīn, s. m. A her- mit, an inhabitant of the desert. صحرا نورد ṣaḥ- rā-naward, Wanderer of the desert. صحرا نوردي ṣaḥrā-naward-ī, s. f. Wandering in the desert or forest.

صفہاني ṣifahān-ī P adj. Of Ispahan.

صلعم ṣalaﻌm A A mysterious word (added often to the name of Maḥammad) formed from the ab- breviation of the following words, صلي الله عليه وسلم ṣallạ-l-lāh aﻌlaihi wa sallam, The blessing and peace of God be with him.

صد ṣad P adj. Hundred. (Sans. शत). صدمني ṣad-man-ī, adj. Containing a hundred man.

صبيه ṣabīya A s. f. 1. A damsel, a girl, child. 2. A daughter.

صراف ṣarrāf A (adj. superl. from صرف) s. m. A banker, a moneychanger.

صيغه ṣīg̠ẖa A (from صوغ) s. m. 1. A mould (for casting metal). 2. A word declinable and de- rivative. 3. The mood, tense, or voice of a verb, conjugation, derivation. 4. Trade, pro- fession. 5. A form of words used in marriage ceremonies. (Plur. صيغ).

صفات ṣifāt A s. f. plur. of صفت ṣifat, q. v.

صبا ṣabā A s. f. A gentle breeze, an easterly breeze, a morning breeze.
