آت āt S̱. (आतृप्य from आ and r. तृप Satisfy) s. m. Custard apple (annona squamosa or reti- culata).

اشاره ishāra A s. m. (inf. iv. of شور) Sign, wink, signal, hint, allusion. اسم اشاره ism-i-ishāra, A demonstrative pronoun. اشاره کرنا ishāra karnā, To beckon, make sign or signal, to hint.

آل āl H s. f. The name of a tree, from the root of which a red colour is extracted for staining leather, dying silk, &c. (Morinda citrifolia).

اچیتا a-chītā S̱. adj. 1. (अ and r. चित Think) Unwished for. 2. (अ and r. चित्र Paint) Not painted (paper, &c.). S̱. اچیلنا (उत् and r. चेल Shake, move) uchelnā, v. a. To separate one thing from another.

آب شور āb-i shor P s. Brackish water, salt water, seawater.

آيه āya A s. m. A sentence of the ḳurʼān. See آيت āyat.

اودهي odhe S̱. see ادهکاري adhikār-ī.

ادب adab A s. m. Institute, rule, good breeding, good manners, politeness, respect, urbanity; taking care not to pass the bounds of any thing. ادب کرنا adab karnā, To respect, to behave po- litely.

اچانک achānak H adv. Suddenly, una- wares, unexpectedly.

اسار असार a-sār S adj. Hollow (like a reed); foolish, weak of understanding.
