شل shall A (Heb. To plunder, to spoil) adj. One who can take nothing in his hands (from sickness), paralytick, having the hand luxated or withered.

شسترسالا शस्त्रशाला shastra-sāla S s. f. Place or magazine of arms.

شہرت shuhrat A (from شہر To publish) s. f. 1. Renown, fame, celebrity. 2. Divulging, report, rumour, celebrating.

شدا shaddā A. (perhaps, from شدّ To run, to charge an enemy; or, corrupt. of شہدا shuhadā, Mar- tyrs) s. m. The banners that are carried with the taﻌziya, in the muḥarram.

شرار sharār A (from شرر) s. m. A spark, or sparks of fire.

شيوبرت shiv-bart S̱. A Hindū fast or holyday.

شرفا shurafā A s. plur. of شريف sharīf, q. v. A.P. شرفناک sharaf-nāk, adj. Honourable, full of honour. A.P. شرفياب sharaf-yāb, part. Obtaining nobility, ennobled.

شکرپاره shakar-pāra P s. m. A kind of sweet- meat.

شوريت shoriyat P. s. f. Saline quality.

شيخ shaiḵẖ A (vulg. sheḵẖ) s. m. An old man, a venerable old man; a chief, a prelate, a title taken by the descendants of the prophet, and given to proselytes to Muhammadanism. شيخًا shaiḵẖaṉ, adv. In the manner of a chief, au- thoritatively. شيخ ڐونڐو shaiḵẖ-ḍoṅḍū, A figure dressed up by way of sport or charm. شيخنا shaiḵẖanā, MyLord! my preceptor! my patron!
