شاهد shāhid A (Heb. Chald. from شہد Chald. To testify) 1. s. m. A witness. 2. (in Pers.) s. m. f. A sweetheart. 3. A female friend, a beloved object. شاهد حال shāhid-i-ḥāl, A witness of facts. شاهد روز shāhid-i-roz, s. m. The sun.

شلتاق shiltāḳ P s. Picking a quarrel with some one for a groundless cause, accusation, dispute.

شکوا shakwā A (improp. shikwā) s. m. Com- plaint, upbraiding. شکوه مند shakwa-mand, adj. Full of complaint. شکوه ناکي shakwa-nāk-ī, s. f. Fulness of complaint.

شرمگيني sharm-gīn-ī P s. f. Bashfulness, shame.

شامک shāmuk शम्बूक S̱. A kind of Helix, of the shell of which lime is made. (Beng.).

شريف sharīf A (from شرف) adj. Noble, eminent, honourable. شريف النفس sharīfu-n-nafs, adj. Noble of soul. شريف مکه sharīf-i-makka, The prince of Mecca.
