شگفتن shuguftan P inf. or verb. n. To bloom, blooming.

شايد shāyad P (3d pers. sing. aor. of شايستن) adv. May be, possibly, probably, perchance, perhaps. شايد که باشد shāyad ki bāshad, Per- haps it may be.

شہزاده shah-zāda P s. m. A prince.

Curiosity. شوق ذوق shauḳ- ẕauḳ, s. m. Pleasure, delight, gratification. A.P. شوقي shauḳ-ī, adj. Desirous, desirer. A.P. شوقين shauḳ-īn, adj. 1. Intent upon, desirous, eager. 2. Lascivious.

شگاف shigāf P (properly شکاف q. v.) s. m. Split, rent, slit, cleft, chasm, fissure, crack, flaw, cre- vice. 2. part. act. (of شگافتن) in compos. Splitting, rending, breaking, cracking.

شمشير shamsher P s. f. A scimitar, sword. شمشير بہادر shamsher-bahādur, (ironically) A useless, worthless fellow. شمشيرزن shamsher-zan, A swordman. شمشيرزني shamsher-zan-ī, s. f. Swordmanship, use of the sword.

شلتاق shiltāḳ P s. Picking a quarrel with some one for a groundless cause, accusation, dispute.
