شيطنت shait̤anat A s. f. Devilʼs tricks, wickedness.

شوال shauwāl A s. m. The tenth month of the Muhammadan year; on the first day of which the festival of Bairām, or īﻌd is celebrated, being the first day after the musalmān Lent; and, on this day it is customary to make presents, &c.

شہامت shahāmat A s. f. Generosity, bravery.

شحنه shaḥna A (or shiḥna, from شحن To drive away, to propel) s. m. 1. A viceroy, lieutenant, representative, superintendent of police. 2. A peon, or servant of a tax-gatherer.

شافه shāffa A (part. act. f. from شفّ To be fine, or thin, to extenuate, to pinch as cold: Chald. To scrape, to rub, to plaster, to polish) s. m. A bougie, a pessary, a suppository.

شرابور sharābor सर्ववोद S̱. adj. Soused, drip- ping wet.

شہاني shah-ānī P. f. adj. Royal, princely; nup- tial (dress).

شکيل shakīl A (from شکل) adj. Well shaped, handsome.

شگفته shugufta P or shigufta (rather شکفته shikuf- ta, q. v.) part. pass. (of شگفتن) Expanded, blooming, blown (as a flower). شگفته خاطري shugufta-ḵẖāt̤ir-ī, s. f. Blooming or expansion of mind. شگفته هونا shugufta honā, 1. To be blown (a flower), to bloom. 2. To be delighted.
