سياما श्यामा syāmā S 1. s. m. Name of a bird, commonly called shāma. 2. s. f. (black) An epithet of the goddess Kālī.

ساوج sāwaj श्वापद S̱. 1. adj. Savage, wild. 2. s. m. Sport, game (i. e. wild animals for the chase). S. ساودهان सावधान (comp. of स With, and अवधान Attention) sāvadhān, adj. With at- tention, attentive, cautious, cautiously.

سوزني sozn-ī P (from سوزن) s. f. A kind of small embroidered carpet, quilted linen, tamboured work.

سربراهي sarbarāh-ī P s. f. 1. The act of providing supplies. 2. Direction, management, adjust- ment, accomplishment.

سيه siyah P adj. Black. See سياه siyāh. سيه روز siyah-roz, adj. Unfortunate, unlucky. سيه موئي siyah-mū-ī, s. f. Blackness of the hair. سيه نامه siyah-nāma, adj. Wicked (man), evil- doer.

سره گاٴي sura-gāʼe S̱. s. The Yāk of Tartary or bushy-tailed bull of Tibet (bos grunniens), an animal of the tail of which an instrument is formed to drive away flies. See As. Res. vol. iv.

ساٿهي sāṭh-ī षष्टिक S̱. s. m. A kind of rice

سوهنا sohnā S̱. 1. v. n. (शोभन) To become, to beseem. 2. v. a. (शोधन) To weed.

سسکارنا suskārnā H v. n. To sibilate, to hiss (as, a snake).

سماق sumāḳ A (prop. summāḳ) s. m. 1. Sumach (Rhus coriaria). 2. Porphyry, the hardest species of marble.
