ستان sitān P part. act. (from ستاندن) used in compos. Taking, seizing, captivating. ¶ stān, or istān (affixed to certain words, denotes) Place, station; as, هندوستان hindū-stān, India; بوستان bo-stān (place of fragrance) Flower- garden.
